Spaghetti Bolognese

+1 Edgell Lentils

Spaghetti bolognese is a firm favourite in many families. In this version, you’ve got all the makings of this well loved dish, plus a whole lot of hidden goodness! The added brown lentils blend in perfectly, helping to bulk out the bolognese sauce and turn this dish into the new family favourite.

Ingredients

+1 1 Can (400g) Edgell Brown Lentils

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 250g jar Leggo's Tomato Paste
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs

Method

In a large saucepan heat oil, add onion and garlic and cook for 2 minutes, add beef mince and cook until browned. Stir in Leggo’s Tomato Paste, tomatoes, stock, bay leaf and mixed herbs.

ADD IN DRAINED EDGELL BROWN LENTILS. MIX THROUGH.

Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer covered for 30 minutes stirring occasionally.

Serve over cooked spaghetti.

Tips

Bolognese sauce can also be frozen in single serve containers for easy use.
